Today we have for you a very special Meet-a-Dad Monday. This lovely day after Father’s Day we present to you our husbands: Tim, from Shoreline Specialties and Dave, from Cut and Dry Painting. These Ocean County dads are being featured for their amazing entrepreneur skills in the construction field. Read below to find out more about their businesses. You can also check them out under our Home Improvements section.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Tim: I ’m originally from Colonia NJ. Then moved to Parlin, NJ when I first got married from there we settled in Jackson.
Dave: I grew up in Yardville, NJ. When my wife and I were first married we lived in Monroe and have been living in Jackson for the last 6 years.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Tim: A daughter who is almost 17 and a son who is 13
Dave: I have two daughters. A 13 year old and 8 1/2 year old.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
Tim:I have four brothers! I’m the middle one!
Dave: I have a slight fear of heights. I spend most of my time painting on ladders or scaffold so everyone always is surprised to hear I don’t often enjoy my time that high off the ground.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Tim: My parents for giving me a good base of what’s important in a family and my wife. We are a complete team. Couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone else.
Dave: I would say my wife. We tackle this roll of parenthood together and we would be lost without each other.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
Tim: Going to the beach, and for bike rides. Long family walks.
Dave: I would say travel. Our favorite place to travel is Vermont. If we aren’t traveling then I would say going to the beach with them, especially for dinner on the beach when the weather is cooler.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Tim: I’ve worked in construction my whole life. Since I was 18 years old. I’m 45, so that’s a long time! After working for someone else I decided to open a carpentry company of my own along side my wife nearly 4 years ago. I’m a trained carpenter. I truly enjoy seeing a project from beginning to end. Working with people and all different kinds of projects is so fulfilling. Shoreline Specialties loves helping customers complete their dream projects. We mostly work in commercial and industrial field but residential jobs have picked up more so over the last year.
Dave: Yes, my painting company! Cut and Dry Painting, LLC. I have been in the field for 20+ years. I opened my company in 2008. It has been rewarding to see projects come to completion, meet new people, and broaden our scope of work over the years.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Tim: The community has been vital! People sharing our company with others is the biggest compliment. Being in involved in community outreach with my wife like Good Counsel Homes during the holidays and food drives throughout the year helps us put perspective on what’s in important in life.
Dave: I would say my own community in Jackson has been great. I painted a local church last summer and from there I received and out pouring from the community on the great job that was done as well as recommendations for other churches. It has been amazing.
What is your favorite restaurant in Ocean County?
Tim:There is just too many! I’ll mention someplace we were just at The Edge in Jackson.
Dave: Hmmm, this is hard, but The Edge in Jackson is at the top of my list.
What is your favorite activity to do with your child(ren) in Ocean County?
Tim: Finding a good trail to hike, and going to the beach. We love to drive the coast through all the shore towns. Adventuring to find new places to eat and great coffee places!!
Dave: I would say a good hiking trail. We love Silver Stream Trail in Jackson.
What are your Dad Goals?
Tim: To slow down and enjoy all the small moments.
Dave: To be present in their lives and be the best dad I can for them.
