We asked Dr. Ruderfer!
What do patients say about you?
Patients often tell me they appreciate how promptly I address their concerns. They also frequently express satisfaction with the quality of care they receive, and many share that they feel confident in my medical judgment and decision-making.
What is the #1 tip you always share with patient families?
As a pediatric pulmonologist, the single most important piece of advice I consistently share with families is to prioritize regular exercise for their children. While it might seem simple, its impact on respiratory health, and overall well-being, is profound.
Finding activities your child enjoys is key to making exercise a sustainable habit. This could include swimming, biking, brisk walking, dancing, or playing sports. Starting slowly and gradually increasing the intensity and duration of exercise is important. Make it a family affair! Engaging in physical activity together can make it more enjoyable and create a supportive environment.
How do you spend time with your friends and family for fun?
We’re a pretty active family, and a lot of our fun revolves around sports and being outdoors. My kids are really into elite soccer, so a lot of our weekends are spent at tournaments or practices. It’s fun to cheer them on and see their hard work pay off. When we have free time, we love going on runs and hikes together. It’s a great way to stay active, enjoy nature, and just spend quality time as a family.
