Meet-a-mom Monday: Kelly Krzeczkowski

Kelly is a mom of two and brings every bit of heart and soul in everything she does. Kelly is the definition of survivor, warrior and faith. This mom has a story worth reading and a business worth supporting. She’s been a nurturer her whole life, from working with the elderly to her new philanthropy work. Learn how Kelly turned an extremely hard time in her life, surviving domestic abuse and leaning on God to bring her joy back. Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I have been a speech-language pathologist early in my career in schools and nursing homes. I fell in love with the business aspects of healthcare and had various leadership roles in healthcare organizations before becoming a nursing home administrator. After being a nursing home administrator I was also an adjunct professor at Kean University and The Philadelphia College of osteopathic medicine. I was the administrator of Crestwood Manor in Whiting during the pandemic. I took a break after the pandemic and had a significantly traumatic experience with domestic violence. During my most trying times I took time away from the nursing home and was blessed by God to turn my trauma into something beautiful. The events of my DV left me and my children homeless. I had always provided one stable home as a single mother to my children and this was a devastating situation. During this time I met a wonderful person who had a food truck that wasn’t in use. I poured my heart and soul into creating Boho Bites, LLC with this food truck. My intelligent beautiful daughter is my business partner. I’ve been beyond blessed to have such incredible local support on my journey to create, develop, and deliver clean coastal cuisine to our local area. I was encouraged by a friend, Gina, who owns Boho Beach to live out my dreams of owning my own business. God did all the rest! Boho Bites has become Partners in Peace with providence house a Catholic charity that assists local survivors of DV and their children. We were also able to help a local family with a child battling cancer, Rylee’s Battle. We’ve raised over 6k from our local community in less than 6 months for those in need. That’s my favorite part of the food truck, doing God’s work. I’m writing a book about my experience with DV from a personal and systems experience of DV to support other survivors and bring awareness, education and reform. I am also working with the legislative senators to advocate for Lisa’s Law, a local woman who was murdered as a result of DV. Her law would put electronic monitoring of the offenders in place to increase protection of the survivor.

The biggest message to get across is that during my times of my worst trials my faith in God restored everything I lost and he gave me triumph over my trials. Boho Bites is all about service to others and giving back to our local community to show others God’s love. And, to serve clean coastal foods like lobster rolls, lobster mac and cheese, tequila lime shrimp tacos with peach pineapple salsa, ahi tuna bites, crab and avocado with a balsamic truffle glaze.  Our signature drink is lavender lemonade and we can add CBD to that drink as well.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The community has been beyond supportive of my woman owned business and philanthropic work. I could not have done this without everyone’s love and support. I have returned to a new local ocean county nursing home that was in need. I heard God and wanted to be obedient to his requests for me to serve the elderly again. I’m excited about the expansion this spring/summer of Boho Bites, the branding, creation and service work that will continue to expand. It’s all happening so fast and has been a beautiful journey through tragedy to me and my children.

What are your Mom Goals?

To keep trying to do my best, which isn’t perfect by any means. To allow my children to see me triumph through tragedies and do the introspective work to learn and grow. I’ll never be a perfect mother, but as long as my children know they are loved then I think I’ve done ok.
