This week’s Meet a Mom is one of the newest additions to The Local Moms Network (TLMN), Lindsey Harrison, who is one of the New Canaan-Darien Moms. She and her husband and daughter Wesleigh (3.5) live in the beach community of Rowayton, in Norwalk, CT. In addition to joining our team last winter, Lindsey also runs the popular blog, Home With The Harrisons, and recently launched her own interior design firm, Dear Elizabeth Interiors! We caught up with this busy toddler mom to ask her about joining our network, her new business and balancing all these fantastic projects.
Why did you choose to move to Rowayton?
We moved to Rowayton three years ago. After house hunting in CT for a few months, we stumbled upon the charming town of Rowayton which checked all the boxes on our list – walk to town, walk to beach and one hour outside of NYC.
Why did you join The Local Moms Network?
I was first introduced to TLMN after working with the team via my blog, in the Spring of last year. It quickly became clear there were many synergies between us and I came on board in an official capacity that Winter.
What is your professional background—and can you tell us more about your new interior design business?
For the last decade plus, my professional background has been in public relations and marketing for interior designers and home furnishings brands. More recently though, I launched my own interior design firm, Dear Elizabeth Interiors which has been a very exciting venture. I’ve always loved connecting with like-minded individuals, being part of a community and discovering new brands which align well with the hyper-local mission of TLMN.
What is your favorite part of being part of TLMN?
Meeting new people and discovering local resources. Rowayton is a small town and feels like a true community – it’s so wonderful that TLMN, albeit a much larger community, still offers that intimate feeling.
What is your favorite working mom/work from home tip?
Create a realistic routine and set boundaries.
Love that! We are committed to supporting local businesses. Can you please share your fave places in your area to:
Go to dinner as a family – We have a handful of favorites, depending on what type of cuisine we’re in the mood for, and we eat out a lot! Munay Kitchen, Tacos Mexico, Parlor Pizza, Little Thai Kitchen, Coals Pizza, Aji 10, Ipanema Restaurant
Have date night – Tavern at Graybarns
Have fun as a family outdoors – Grace Farms, Meade Park, Ambler Farm
Workout – I horseback ride each week, but when I was going into a studio to exercise, Kaia Yoga, F45 Norwalk or Bar Method Darien were my go-tos
Get your hair done – I go to Andrew Stefanou Salon & Spa for blowouts
Get your nails done – Depending on who has availability – 2NE1, Spa Grace or To&From (all in Darien)
Go shopping – Barrett Bookstore, Browne & Co., Darien Sport Shop, Kirby Outlet, New Canaan Toy Store, Wee Mondine
